The USA Today 10Best aims to provide unbiased content that highlights the best of the best across a wide array of categories, from arts and culture to top travel destinations. Following our work at Tropic Falls at OWA, we’ve been nominated for ‘Best Indoor Water Park’. 

So how did we get selected for this honor? Firstly, a panel of experts compiled a group of nominees who they felt had produced exceptional work. Then, the editors at 10Best whittled this down further to a shortlist of just 20. Now, the winner is left in the hands of the public, with readers able to cast one vote per category, per day.

About Tropic Falls at OWA

If you’ve not heard of Tropic Falls before, then let us talk you through some of the exciting features on offer at this one-of-a-kind attraction. Opened in the summer of 2022, Tropic Falls at OWA is the largest water park on the Gulf Coast and is the only water park in the entire country with a retractable roof and sidewall. It covers over 100,000ft2 and holds over 300,000 gallons of water in the indoor park and 438,000 gallons in the outdoor pool.

Boasting 23 rides, 6 different slides standing at over 75 feet tall, a zero-entry pool area, and a lazy river, Tropic Falls makes for an incredible day out for all the family. And with a 6,000ft2 kiddie pool, a dump bucket tower, and a tropical play structure equipped with five slides, there’s sure to be something for all ages.

What Did We Do?

So what work did we actually carry out at Tropic Falls? Working in collaboration with Burleson Pools, we assisted on every stage of this extensive project, from the planning phase right through to the final construction. We worked closely with the client to design a space that met their exact needs while accommodating several design preferences and cost measures. 

We also constructed the Big Water Bay pool – a 30,000ft 2 outdoor wave pool complete with a lagoon for kids, a surf simulator, and a spacious beach to recreate a tropical paradise right here in Alabama.

In recognition of our outstanding workmanship, our team, alongside the staff over at Burleson Pools, was awarded the Tiffany Award at the Master Pools Guild’s Excellence Awards in 2023. We’re so proud of our amazing team and we can’t wait to see families enjoy this awesome attraction for years to come.
